Hi everyone!
Yesterday GameNExt was held at the fantastic Glasshouse venue in Gateshead, celebrating the North East games industry and attracting developers and students from across the region. With over 200 attendees across GameNExt and the Atomhawk Breakfast the following day, the event proved to be a huge success with talks and panels from highly experienced industry professionals.

NE Devs was also presented, making sure as many developers know that a supportive community is here and ready to help them, whether they are new to the industry or experienced veterans. We also announced our strategy for the future, including new website features showcasing a list of games made in the North East, company list, and a list of outsourcers and freelancers. We also shared early plans for getting students involved too.
There were a host of riveting talks and panels - one that really stood out was Ron Ashtiani's talk about the history of Game Development in the North East, a nostalgic blast from the past for the more experienced devs and a good lesson in how the North East industry began for those who are too young to have been there! Our very own Olly Bennett also spoke about all the myriad opportunities available to young businesses in the region.

The event was put together by a collection of participants who are passionate about raising the profile of the North East games industry and ensuring people outside of the North realise what a thriving hub it is.
GameNExt will be running again next year so stay tuned for updates!
Thank for reading,
North East Game Devs
